President/Founder

Doug Dahlin, AIA, founded Dahlin Group over 30 years ago, shortly after graduating from the University of California at Berkeley. As president of the firm, he has been the major driving force behind the multi-disciplined approach the firm takes toward architecture, designing residences, museums, university facilities, or his special interest, land planning and urban design. Under Mr. Dahlin's guidance, Dahlin Group has become one of the largest architectural firms in Northern California. Mr. Dahlin's approach to architecture is team-centered and hands-on. He personally is involved with all aspects of the design process. What originally drew him to his profession still inspires him today, as a leader, teacher, and craftsman. Mr. Dahlin is a frequent speaker at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference; he is a member of the AIA East Bay Chapter, as well as, the Urban Land Institute, where he serves on the Small Scale Development Council (Gold Flight).

Chip Pierson
Principal/General Manager

Chip Pierson, AIA, Principal and General Manager, has been with Dahlin Group Architecture Planning for over 25 years. Founded over two decades ago, Dahlin Group is led by a management team of nine principals, four associates, and over 100 professionals; including architects, planners, designers, illustrators, animators, and administrators. Mr. Pierson’s versatility in business management and architecture split his time. His responsibilities include directing the firm's financial, marketing, personnel, and risk management concerns along with several high profile planning and architectural projects.

John Thatch
Principal

John Thatch, AIA, has been with Dahlin Group for 24 years, the last 13 as Vice President in charge of design. His primary focus is the development and design creativity of Dahlin Group's production residential projects. Personally involved and backed by teams of project managers and designers, Mr. Thatch works with clients and projects throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas and Washington State. He also judges design competitions for production housing throughout the country, and is a frequent speaker for the National Association of Home Builders and Pacific Coast Builders Conference.

Karl Danielson
Principal

Karl Danielson, AIA, has experience encompassing a diverse background covering 21 years. Mr. Danielson has directed such Dahlin Group projects as commercial centers, museums, office buildings, country clubs, athletic facilities, and mixed-use land planning. In addition to his specific projects, he is responsible for project management company-wide.

Mark Day
Principal

Mark Day, AIA, has 18 years of expertise as a designer and project manager. He has been responsible for residential communities and custom homes throughout Contra Costa, Alameda and Santa Clara Counties. Mr. Day has served as project architect the Silver Creek Valley Country Club community in San Jose, California, and most recently the award winning Rivermark master planned community in Santa Clara, California.

Principal

Alan Burrell, AIA, has 23 years of experience managing and designing a variety of architectural projects. His skills have been applied to production housing projects and custom homes, and most recently with golf clubhouse design. Burrell's notable projects include the award-winning Rush Creek project in Novato, California, as well as over 20 custom homes throughout the Ruby Hill community in Pleasanton, California.

Kurt Donnelly
Principal

Kurt Donnelly has 26 years of experience in design and management with
Dahlin Group Architects. As a Licensed architect and senior design Principal,
Kurt has been responsible for the design of community residential housing
projects throughout California. Though still managing the design in the
Pleasanton office, his work for the past 5 years has been focused on the
growth and expansion of Dahlin Group’s International work in China. With
the expertise of Dahlin Group’s Beijing office, Kurt’s design leadership has
produced award winning projects in several major cities in China, including
Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Changsha and Guangzhou. He is active in
the Northern California housing industry and is a frequent judge for awards
programs throughout the Western states.

Principal

Ms. Keenan has expertise in several areas as a designer and project manager. Her successes include recreational buildings, golf course clubhouses, resorts and custom residences. She has also worked on numerous single-family and multi family residential production projects, as well as master plans and design guideline programs.

Mr. Aiello has 25 years experience in architecture, interior design and construction.His projects have varied in diversity from furniture, lighting design, restaurants, auto dealerships, residential communities, recreational facilities, retail, theatre, and custom residences.

Lauri Fehlberg

Principal

Ms. Moffet-Fehlberg has over twenty years experience in the architectural field and includes a wide variety of design and production of office, retail, residential, and development planning projects. In the past ten years she has specialized in the design and entitlement of master planned communities. She approaches community design by integrating an overall vision for the community with architectural knowledge, experience and a thorough understanding of environmental and jurisdictional issues.

Glen Simmons
Glen Simmons
Principal

Glen Simmons has over 25 years experience in architectural design, project management and construction administration for large commercial projects, as well as custom and multi-family residential projects. He serves as client contact and head administrator assuming complete responsibility for a project. Mr.Simmons also assists in the development and implementation of Dahlin Group's standards for specifications and construction documentation.
