The Newark Dumbarton transit-oriented development neighborhood will connect rail, bus transit, a new retail center, the Bay Trail, and additional open space amenities to 2,500 homes. DAHLIN coordinated the interests of the City, eight property owners, and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission to produce a specific plan that captures the vision and planning of this unique opportunity. Challenged by site contamination, the plan creatively balances constructible areas and incorporates a form-based approach to zoning to allow development flexibility and adaptability to ever-changing market conditions.
