The Stone House

  • Napa Valley, California
  • Private Client

Built of indigenous stone mined from the vineyards of Napa Valley, the Stone House was designed to emulate the farmhouses of Tuscany.

This 1,200-square-foot private retreat is constructed as a series of additions. Each shed has been applied to the last to house a different function, typical of generational homes that are altered as needs arise. Clad in stone and stucco with heavy sandblasted wood details, interior walls are warm and smooth of colored plaster; exterior windows and cabinetry are mahogany; and interior doors are reused panels from antique Chinese screens supplied by the owner.
