The challenge of this design competition? Renovate an existing 43-year-old, 11-story concrete seniors apartment building. Updating the exterior facade to fit within Oakland's architectural heritage, these uniquely shaped units were also redesigned to meet today's current accessibility requirements while offering more privacy to its tenants. The lobby and amenities were upgraded and expanded, and a parking garage added to meet parking needs.
