IBS: Single-Family Lifestyle in a Multifamily World

  • January 21, 2020
  • NAHB IBS

While much of the marketplace is pursuing smart growth through higher density housing, many people still prefer a single-family home. Creating higher density communities that capture the essence of single-family living through its land plan, amenities, floor plans, and streetscape are key to delivering the single-family features these homebuyers desire in a multifamily product. Panelists will discuss how builders and architects are accomplishing single-family living in a multifamily world, sharing successful community and floor plan examples.

Moderator:
John Thatch, AIA, LEED AP – Senior Principal/Director of Design – DAHLIN

Panelists:

DAHLIN's Passion for Place® is evident in all that we do. De Huynh gives us an interesting fact about the #ZeroThreshold competition. “A fun fact is seeing how hard and challenging it is to get all smart people to work together, because each individual wants to design the best and meaningful project, not only for the competition, but also for all other communities. We have very diverse team members, and each person brought their own cultural and personal background to the design, and it was fun to learn how to bring people's passions to design and different ideas into one meaningful place." https://www.dahlingroup.com/perspective/Insights/DAHLIN_Participates_in_the_Zero_Threshold_Design_Competition #Design #awards #DAHLIN #seniorliving #PassionForPlace

Jamie Almeida shares what feature of our #ZeroThreshold project will have the most impact on its residents. “Modular tiny homes provide the affordability aspect that will target the missing 'middle'; people who want to stay in their neighborhood, but cannot afford it, seniors with a fixed income who want to age in their neighborhood but need a home that fits their ageing lifestyle, or a family who buys their first home and needs supplementary income. The modular tiny home solution keeps prices low, utilizing the minimal square footage to create efficient floor plans (which also reduces cost), and providing supplemental rental income for first-time property owners with humble incomes." https://www.dahlingroup.com/perspective/Insights/DAHLIN_Participates_in_the_Zero_Threshold_Design_Competition #PassionForPlace #design #awards #DAHLIN #seniorliving
