Canopy Cottages

  • Redmond, Washington
  • Toll Brothers

Contemporary cottage living reimagined through efficient design, seamless indoor-outdoor connection, and architecture shaped by the surrounding natural environment.

Located within a wooded site in northwest Redmond, Canopy Cottages is organized around preserved tree canopy, protected ravines, and shared open space. The detached cottages are sited to capture views and strengthen connection to the surrounding landscape. Rather than clearing the landscape, the community was carefully woven between existing trees and natural grades, creating a setting where homes feel immersed within the canopy. The architecture draws from traditional cottage forms with simple massing, open layouts, and a primarily white exterior palette accented by black windows and doors

Each home is designed in under 1,500 square feet with a focus on openness, functionality, and indoor-outdoor living. Living spaces wrap around covered patios that extend natural light and exterior access into the home. Vaulted ceilings, expansive windows, and large sliding doors enhance the sense of volume, while efficient planning maximizes livable space with minimal circulation, generous storage, walk-in closets, and flexible bedroom layouts.
