Serenade on 43rd is a 65-unit affordable housing community in San Diego that combines new construction with the rehabilitation of existing residences to create a cohesive, service-enriched environment.
The design organizes buildings around shared courtyards, strengthening connections across the site and supporting resident interaction. The removal of two end units improves circulation and unifies the development, while ground-level amenity spaces activate the street and reinforce neighborhood engagement.
Half of the homes are dedicated to permanent supportive housing, including residences for individuals experiencing homelessness, supported through the County of San Diego’s No Place Like Home program.
